Sacramento, CA -- According to the Governor Schwarzenegger's office, Indiana will start housing 1,200 California inmates starting in November.
Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels says his state will provide housing in unused portions of the New Castle Correctional Facility. New Castle is a medium-security prison 40 miles east of Indianapolis. The facility has a capacity for 2,416 inmates but currently it only houses 1,063.
Earlier this week Schwarzenegger issued an emergency order for the state corrections department to immediately make arrangements to transfer as many as 5,000 California inmates to out of state facilities because of overcrowded conditions. California prisons now house 170,000 inmates.

Ummm... and why aren't they sending them to places like Texas and Florida where the hospitality won't be so nice!! Their prison's are suppose to be tougher than ours. Maybe then, they'd decide that coming back to prison wouldn't be such a good idea... ya right.
