I've read books about International Adoption, Russian Adoption, Toddler Adoption, Attaching in Adoption, China Adoption and many many others.
I've worked with a Victim's Advocacy Unit in the District Attorney's Office. I worked in the Criminal Division there also where I had to read the reports of abuse that never made it to trial. I thought I'd be prepared.
Then I started reading this book.
I feel like a fraud. I thought I was fairly informed regarding adoption issues.
I know absolutely NOTHING regarding Fos-Adopt, Foster Care, Children in Foster Homes............nothing........
This book is challenging the Foster Care system as "we" know it and is only one of the first few books I am reading.
It is written by a Harvard Law School Professor who believes the US should apply the lessons learned through the battered women's movement to these battered children.
This book was not on the reading list the agency gave me.For those people out there who have gone through this process (Foster Parenting and Fos-Adopt)... what other books would you recommend for me to read?

We were foster parents for several years (over 25 kids), a book that I liked was The Difficult Child by Stanley Turecki.
I read a Boy Named It, A Man Named Dave and I can't think of the other ones, it helped me get inside of the head of an abused, neglected child.
I don't have a suggestion, but if you get a list, please post it!
I've read Parenting the Hurt Child and Adopting the Hurt Child. Also (I hate the title, but) Can This Child be Saved. I'm going to go check out that book you just read. It sounds like an eye-opener.
You know I thought I had heard it all. I've read children's profiles that have made me physically ill because the abuse they endured was so horrific. But then another one comes along that shows a new level of abuse and depravity. It's hard to even read... I don't know how these kiddos manage to endure it.
