Woke up this morning to snow and ice. Made driving a little hairy. So.... of course I didn't make it to the office meeting. Haven't made one yet this year.

There are so many people who have moved up here that have never driven in these conditions! The road to Ivan's school was like a parking lot. Passed a stuck schoolbus (gotta get the kids to school so the superintendent can make his salary). On one particularly icy turn there was a propane truck that had slowly slid across the road and into a ditch. Luckily there were some small pines to catch it before it went over the hill. There were people all around it afraid to move. Luckily I had my handy four wheel drive to get me through.

When I got home I spent an hour uploading some pictures for a listing and then the internet connection turned off. A curse to all dial up connections!!! I pray for DSL soon.

I then spoke with a client who just returned from Missouri. He is developing a subdivision there not too far out of St. Louis. Can you believe he got a building permit for only $80.00?!? I assure you this is not a misprint! Oh, if only. I congratulate the families that are able to escape the California income vacuum. I know it sounds silly but I find it hard to be a sixth generation Californian who wants to jump ship. I feel guilty and ashamed somehow. Like I couldn't cut it. To be able to own a home outright and not work myself into the ground would be a dream come true.

Had a meeting with a Title Company Rep today. Kind of a guilt trip really. "Why aren't you doing more business with us?" Well...... isn't it supposed to be ethical to have the buyer decide?
No- actually they are a great office and I like to work with them... just... I don't know, not as many of my clients choose them. I did use them for at least 5 escrows that I know of though.

Tomorrow I'm off to the hearing test. I have to get up by 5 to get down the hill for Johnny's appointment at 9am. Yeesh. Hope husband remembers Ivan's speech class.
